Hallway Floor Inspiration

Hallways, entryways; or what whatever you like to call the space on leaving or coming home, its a space that is high traffic but usually isn’t somewhere we spend a lot of time. It’s exactly because not a lot of time is spent here, that the hallway often is neglected. Becoming a dumping ground for shoes, coats, bags, deliveries, laundry waiting to be put away, the list goes on. The thing is, I think the hallway/entry…

Pretty Little Knots- Macrame!

Instagram can be a weird and wonderful place. It can make you realise how small the world actually is. Often, I feel the people I’ve met via the photography sharing app, are often more closely in alignment with me than those, “in real life” {IRL} whom I’ve known for years. Sam from Pretty Little Knots is one of these. After meeting up we discovered that we’d grown up within a couple of miles of each other,…

Green Velvet Sofas

Or 50 shades of green velvet… {alternate title} Green and Greenery are key colours for 2017 but I think shades of forest greens are more than just a fad. They can be classic colours that will stand the test of time and passing fashions. If you are a regular reader you will have seen my green velvet sofa, that I’m still head over heels in love with. I thought it’d be useful if you are sofa…

Khaki Maxi Skirt

An outfit post for you today, featuring this khaki maxi skirt which I’ve barely been out of in the warm weather we’ve been having. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m slowly working my way through The Curated Closet. A brilliant book about creating a wardrobe that works for you. How to have variety, but not have so much choice you get overwhelmed every morning. The book takes you through steps to hone your style and exercises to enable you…

Shutters- the big reveal!

Finally I can show you the shutters! The fitting happened a couple of weeks ago now and it was so quick it only took a couple of hours. It probably took the guy longer to unpacked the shutters than it did to actually install them! As you can see we went for white to match with the window frames. Despite covering the windows, you can see there’s loads of light coming through. I mentioned before that…

Spring favourites

I wanted to do a round up of things that I’ve enjoyed these past couple of months. I was supposed to do this post weeks ago, but at least it’s here now! We are well into May, and despite some changeable weather, Spring has arrived. Jodrell Bank We visited Jodrell Bank one sunny Saturday morning recently, home of the Lovell Telescope. It is an incredible feat of engineering. I feel lucky to live a 20 minute…

Scaffolding Board Shelves

Today I’m sharing a recent update we’ve done in the kitchen. Our kitchen is over two years old now and it is from Ikea. They also installed it for us, and I’m still in love with the space we created. It is so much more usable than what it was like when we first moved in. Click to see the “Before” photos of our kitchen! I love an open look in the kitchen and have always…

recent Beauty buys for sensitive skin

Today I wanted to just share with you three recent beauty products that I’m really enjoying using. My skin is incredibly sensitive and prone to eczema. Finding things that work for me, without provoking a reaction can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. One thing I’ve struggled with for a long time is finding a moisturiser with SPF in. Or even just a high factor facial sun cream. I’ve been getting by with kids…

Twiggy for Marks & Spencer

It’s not everyday I get invited to meet a fashion icon. When I opened the email inviting me to meet, one of the first ever supermodels, Twiggy; I jumped at the chance. The event included meeting Twiggy and attending a preview of her new collection for M&S. As part of the afternoon there was also a fashion show from Marks & Spencers archives through the decades from the twenties onwards. There was a handful of lovely Northern bloggers…

Shutter Stories

Hey there, Readers! I’m back after a little Easter break with the first instalment of our Shutter Story. As you’ve seen over the past few months we have been working on our Dining Room. If you fancy catching up on the dining room you can go here and here. You’ve already guessed we really fancied shutters for the windows of this room. Up until just before Christmas we had Venetian blinds in the four sections of the…

Garden Plans & Arbours

Spring is here now, (thank goodness!) and for many of us it is a chance to get out into the garden and enjoy the outdoors again. Our garden is large, but has taken a back seat on our To Do list. There are things which are of a higher priority to work on (and in) the house itself. We don’t have an unlimited budget, so the garden has taken a hit really in terms of our time,…
