Green Velvet Sofas

June 7, 2017Susan

Or 50 shades of green velvet… {alternate title}

Green and Greenery are key colours for 2017 but I think shades of forest greens are more than just a fad. They can be classic colours that will stand the test of time and passing fashions.

If you are a regular reader you will have seen my green velvet sofa, that I’m still head over heels in love with.

I thought it’d be useful if you are sofa shopping, or even just planning your dream living room, to share with you a “one stop shop” for green velvet sofas.

I’ve scoured the internet for beautiful sofas, that just happen to be velvet and green.

So, if you don’t like green, or velvet you might as well stop reading now (just kidding! I’ll convert you!).

Shall we begin?

First up is this chic and minimally designed sofa, which I think has a healthy dollop of mid-century cool. It’s the Tivoli from Swoon Editions and has a chaise end for extra loungability (yes, that is a word I just made up). I can totally picture the cast of Mad Men seated on this sofa drinking cocktails and nibbling canapés.

This green velvet Chesterfield sofa has a heavy dose of blue, making it lean towards the Teal end of the green spectrum, but I just had to include it. Our previous sofa was a Chesterfield and I love the timeless quality they have. They literally fit into any kind of home, and any kind of decor. This is the Sterling Sofa from Darlings of Chelsea and (public service announcement) it is currently in their online sale! Starting at £1680.

Loaf sofas are a bit iconic aren’t they? This one looks extra deep and cosy, perfect for curling up with a hot chocolate and Netflix. This is the Crumpet medium sofa in Olive Green Velvet and is £1725. I think I’d sink into this and never want to get out!

Next up this green velvet sofa looks equal parts rustic and luxe. From Neptune, this is the George sofa in Mallard (green) Velvet and starts at £1730. I love the drama of the dark green here, it really makes it feel very opulent and would lift any room from average, to something special. It’s shape reminds me of something you’d see in a BBC period drama, rather grand, and wouldn’t be out of place in a stately home.

I spotted another Darlings sofa that this time had a chaise end. I love corner sofas or those with a chaise as they are more cosy and you can stretch out on them whilst watching a film. We are all tall in our house so having extra leg room gets a big thumbs up from me. This one is the Clara from Darlings of Chelsea and its the deepest green velvet with a smidge of blue, it reminds me of the deepest part of the ocean; moody, green blue and it feels like it would envelop you in its depths.

Last but not least, is my very own green velvet sofa which is the perfect dimensions for our room. Sofa shopping is much harder than it first appears when you have a specific size you need. Anyway, this one is from Furniture Village and you can read my original blog post about it here. This sofa has been reduced since we bought it (sob) and is now from £1095

So have I convinced you that a green velvet sofa should be on your shopping list??

    I love the second one. I need that in my life. Some of these remind me of the chairs my grandparents had when I was little.

    The Chesterfield is gorgeous! I have a friend who has one very similar and I’m always insanely jealous of it!

    I love all the wonderful shades of greens that we are seeing in interiors at the moment (not Pantone’s greenery though!). These sofas are all beautiful and I think velvet is quite a timeless material. A really nice selection you’ve chosen.

    The neptune sofa gets my vote. I agree – green is going to stay around for a long time to come and velvet is always on trend. x
