Emerald City

The world authority on colour  and colour matching- Pantone, have declared Emerald to be the colour of 2013. Hearing this bought to mind a beautiful asymmetrical vintage Emerald green dress I sold on eBay- which I always wish I hadn’t- boohoo! “Lively. Radiant. Lush… A colour of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony.”- Pantone. I thought I’d pay homage to my lost Emerald dress via Dita Von Teese who wears Emerald so…

Birthday Blowout

I turned 32 last Monday! Woah! How did that happen? I was showered with gifts and got more than suitably drunk on the Saturday preceding. Here are some snaps! I wore a Bettie Page dress and Rocket Original Shoes- and my current favourite 1950’s blue earrings, my friends and I have clearly dressed with an Olympic colour scheme as you may notice- not intentionally of course. Proper service shall be resumed shortly!

Dressing & Stressing

What a weekend! A brilliant night out and a purchase to die for from one of my favourite vintage fairs! The Whim Wham Cafe was our choice of venue on Saturday evening, a recently opened Gin Saloon, owned and managed by the people behind monthly Manchester night The Whim Wham Club– a excellent club night I’ve talked about in previous posts. I was having a wardrobe crisis though- we’ve all been there- its not that I’ve not got…

Vintage Makeover Studio In Manchester

Well what can I say- I needed 24 hours to get over my day at AltStudio’s in Manchester’s sunny Northern Quarter. But what a day! Real life actual models must be contortionists by the way as my legs are killing me this evening! And for those of you wondering about my sensitive skin and all that make-up- I prepared my face by using my prescribed creams for a couple of days beforehand then took some high strength antihistamine on the morning of the…

Style Me Vintage- Clothes Book Review

Well when this book arrived through the door for me to review I was taken aback by how tactile it was- beautiful to touch as well as to look at! Written and created by Naomi Thompson of the amazing Vintage Secret website and blog, and the UK’s first vintage personal shopper- what she doesn’t know about vintage clothing probably isn’t worth knowing! As part of the Style Me Vintage series it lends itself to those who are starting on their…

A Christmas Romance

The date was 23rd December 2007, my wedding day, and two years to the day, since our first date. So that makes today our four year wedding anniversary, and this is very slushy and romantic but my husband is my rock and my best friend. Altogether now, Ahhhhhhhh. Anyway thought I’d share a couple of photo’s of our day. My dress is actually separates and is from Fairy Gothmother. Gloves and shoes from eBay and I made the hat!…

The Retro Show- My outfit

Last Thursday was The Retro Show at PinUp Bowling Lanes in Spinningfields. To get more details on the clothes and vintage collections visit Body Confidential who took much better photographs than I. I am actually using one of their photographs to show my outfit as I didn’t have time to take a photo before leaving the house, or anywhere else for that matter! The blonde lady is my oldest (not in age!) friend and the fabulous…

Swirl dress I heart thee

I recently became a member of a Facebook group call Glitz & Pieces, which I’d heard about on Twitter as I follow the lovely Miss Matilda– the genius behind Able Grable vintage dresses. Glitz & Pieces is a place where you can sell or swap you vintage or glamorous goodies. We all have things we’ve bought on a whim and its not as if you can return vintage to the shop- it just doesn’t work like that. I you fancy a bit of…
