Wish List- Five Jumpsuits

I’ve been eyeing up jumpsuits lately. I’ve bought a bright red vintage one via eBay, but I’m hooked and need more. Luckily for me the are a big trend this year so there are loads in the shops. I’ve loved a good jumpsuit since being at primary school when I begged my mum to buy me one, sometime in the late 1980’s. My favourite jumpsuit icon has go to be Sigourney Weaver and whilst I wont be…

Outfit post- Museum Morning a new Joules dress

Hi there readers! Today I’m sharing an outfit post with you as I’ve bought a couple of things recently that I hope are going to be wardrobe staples (instead of frivolous purchases!!). We went to Manchester Museum recently on a family morning out. It’s one of my favourite places to go in the city and I’ve been coming here since I was a small child, its full of artefacts, dinosaurs and Victorian taxidermy and has some…

Outfit post- Sainsburys Maxi Dress

Today I thought I’d share with you a recent maxi dress purchase from Sainsburys. I bought this Maxi Dress in the sale section of the Tu clothing range at Sainsburys. We have a branch very close to home and it can be rather dangerous, but I do find myself browsing when I pop in to do a bit of food shopping. There were actually loads of them left- since buying it I’ve realised why, they are LONG.…

Outfit post- Finally falling for Freddie’s

Well the title of this post says it all really… I finally found the right Freddie’s of Pinewood jeans for me. I first tried Freddie’s about three years ago- I cant even remember which model/version they were, but they just weren’t right. They weren’t high enough in the waist and therefore were extremely uncomfortable in the crotch area (!!). I was hesitant about trying them again but after me grilling a few ladies on Twitter and…

Sorting my wardrobe- Part 1

I’ve recently started reading all the blogs I follow through Bloglovin, Santa was kind and I got an iPad for Christmas and the Bloglovin app on there is brilliant. So I’m probably reading more blogs than ever before, finding new ones and rediscovering some I’d forgotten about. Anyway one post really stood out from the others recently for me- on Tasha’s blog By Gum, By Golly. If you dont already know of it then hop over…

2013 Winner Profile: Miss Bamboo

In the latest of our winner profiles, the glamorous and inspirational Miss Bamboo, aka Emma Edwards, talks to us about her inspirations, her love of vintage style and her future plans. I have been into vintage style for around thirty years since being a teenager in the early 1980′s when I was influenced by both Mod and Rockabilly subcultures.  I later discovered a love of the 1940′s and now the 40s/50s is a whole lifestyle choice for…

Men-only barbers takes Manchester by storm

Attention men of Manchester! Are you fed up getting your hair cut at one of the many stupidly trendy ‘hair salons’? Do you hark back for a traditional gentleman’s barbers with the smell of mahogany permeating the air? I have good news, chaps, for there is a new hair establishment in town, Barber Barber. So good, they named it twice. Specialising in rockabilly and traditional cuts for £24 as well as cut-throat shaves priced at £25,…

Quick bump update!

Today 13th Nov 2014 I’m three days overdue, just a quick update as I’ve had a few folk ask about how I’m doing. I do think my body loves being pregnant and my daughter was 14 days overdue so I kind of expected similar… As you can see I’m in stretchy, comfortable proper maternity stuff now too, feeling rather large to put it mildly!! Hope all my lovely readers are well! xx

Manchester Weekender: The Fashion Special

While most of the Manchester high street opened its doors to shoppers on the Fashion Night Out, the vintage community opted for something a little different. Held in the Manchester Art Gallery, the Thursday Lates Fashion Special brought together the collective behind the King’s Arms Vintage Fair and the regular pop up Vintage Emporium at The Whim Wham Cafe and offered the public not only the chance to buy gorgeous pieces of vintage fashion, but something…

Manchester Vintage Awards Outfit

As I think some of you more regular and local to Manchester, UK readers are aware I also run VintageManchester.com, and just recently we held the second annual awards for those businesses and people who work within “vintage” in Manchester. This year we were at a venue called Manchester 235 which is a plush city centre casino… I always try to theme the event to give guests a bit of fun deciding what to wear, so…

Maternity Mondays- Outfit post

Well I thought it was about time I did an outfit post- maternity style! My hair is getting really long- no wonder its not setting properly at the moment, the turban perks the outfit up I think. I’ve got one of these in blue too- handy to have around for that instant vintage touch to your outfit. I got this red one from the gang at Vibrant Vintage who run vintage fairs and have a vintage…

A Look at The Nineties

Guest contributor Rachael from The Social Butterfly discusses the merits of the nineties… Things take time to be considered beautiful. For example, cheese, the longer it is left to mature the better it tastes! Then there’s the golden antique rule, an item over 100 years old, is officially classed as an antique. This also relates to fashion, the older a piece of clothing the more valued and beautiful, it is considered to be. Until very recently…
