About

Hello and welcome to Susan Earlam | Creative Living formally Old Fashioned Susie. Established in 2010.

First of all thanks for visiting, without you, I wouldn’t be here! I’m a freelance blogger, writer, photographer and interiors stylist. When I’m not updating these pages, you’ll find me writing for publications both on and offline, collaborating with some of my favourite brands and seeking out great places in Manchester and beyond to share with you here.

I am 38 and live with my husband and two daughters. We are based just outside of Manchester and I really love my city, having lived here most of my life. There are some fab posts about Manchester here on the blog. I’m always happy to recommend places too, so if you are visiting do tweet me and ask.

I hope you find a down to earth approach to life and creativity, as well as real advice on interiors and home style. You’ll find inspiration on how to mix old and new, vintage and high street, hand me down and off the shelf. Helping you to give your home an individual and unique look and feel, just like you.

I’m interested in the stories of things and of people.

As of September 2018 I’m working on the second draft of a novel.

My Virgo perfectionist tendencies are something I’m trying to tame. Once I have an idea I like it to be just so, although when it comes to home renovations and actually what is possible with our budget; I’ve learnt that being imperfect is actually way more interesting 😉

I’m passionate about creativity and individuality and believe these are incredibly valuable in our lives.

My favourite social media channel is Instagram so you can always find me on there– come and say hi!

You can find out more about my newsletter here.

Meeting Twiggy!

You will find some sponsored content here and when I do partner with a brand it is always something I’ve carefully considered. It comes from an authentic place, because I like them, and think you will too.

Brands that have heritage are really interesting to me, and I will usually prefer a classic, timeless look over something that is “in fashion”. I do dip into trends of course, but I don’t run my life by them, preferring an eclectic mix full of character.

Affiliate Disclosure;

In some posts, I might use affiliate links which are a small way to add to my income. These links make no difference to how you view, or buy a product I mention, I just get a small percentage at no cost to you. Products only get a mention if I really like them and think you will too. I’m hoping you can support me in my efforts to be as transparent as possible here on the blog.

    Susie,

    I love the Cavallini italian postcard wrap, do you know if there is a way to get one of his wraps done in wall covering? I would like to use this behind some shelving in an office. I also found a designer named Nicoletta Pagano in Italy who has some beautiful designs but only in wrap as well.

    Also trying to find a wallpaper I saw in Bella Italia in on Hanover St. in Edinburgh but have not been able to find too many UK design sites — it was a vintage Italian retro wallpaper, any ideas of where to look? Have contacted the business to find out who designed their restaurants to see if I can track it down.
