A Mothers Day Shoe Tribute

March 10, 2013Susan

Shoe shopping when you have children seems to be a never ending cycle. They are always growing- who knew!

I’m really fussy about what shoes I buy for my little girl. This trait has been handed down from my mother as she would never buy me the shoes I wanted, always the shoes that gave the most support for my slightly odd feet. My mother and I have incredibly high arches- so much so that neither of us can wear any type of shoe unless there is a strap across or its a lace up. Our feet basically cannot keep the shoe on as there isn’t enough of the actual foot in the shoe- its all arch! I know- weird.

Anyway my daughter is showing signs of having similar feet- liking to walk on tiptoes, shoes falling off, tripping over her own feet. Yes many a hardship, although having high arches is supposed to make a prettier foot, not a practical foot. So shoe shopping is always sensible in our house again…

My lovely mum and me probably from 1981. Check the sensible (and cool) footwear mum is wearing. And below, probably around 1986/1987 with my, just in shot sensible shoes… These blue ones are an almost exact replica of the ones my daughter wears most of the time at the moment.

So I’d like to thank my mother for buying me supportive shoes as I was growing up, otherwise my arches would have fallen and I’d now have flat feet. T- Bars and Lace ups are the way forward, for some lovely little girls shoes head to John Lewis who stock a wide range of different brands as well as their own rather good line.
