Hello you lovely lot!
Today I wanted to share with you a place which is a real treasure trove if you are searching for unusual things and/or vintage for your home. Stockyard North Salvage shop.
It’s especially good if you are hunting for vintage and antiques in Manchester.
The space is within a props warehouse, which now has this shop inside. The warehouse hires props out for TV, films and photo-shoots and it is huge. It’s also where big department stores in Manchester store a lot of their larger visual merchandising props for window displays and Christmas.
It is a huge space and the shop sells pieces from the warehouse. If they are overstocked with fireplaces for example they will have a clear-out and put some in the shop.
You do need a car to get here, as the location is a little out of the way. It’s close to the Trafford centre, within Trafford park. But if you know Trafford park, you’ll know it is rather a sprawling mixture of roads and roundabouts and not very pedestrian friendly. The road it’s on (details below) is rather like an off road experience too- so be prepared. The whole experience is an adventure!
Everything you see in the shop is for sale.
Stockyard shop is so worth the trip. There’s loads of interesting bits and bobs here. Antiques, reclamation and salvage so a real mixture. I mentioned fireplaces above, as I think we’ll get one from here when we get around to redoing ours at home.
From Victorian beaded lampshades and gilt mirrors to mid-century teak cabinets. Fireplaces, door knobs, tiles, old maps and books, you could spend most of the day having a good look around and leaving with a couple of things and a lot of inspiration.
If you are in the North West and are looking for somewhere to go antiques hunting then I’d highly recommend this place. Let me know if you go and what you end up buying!
Location: Stockyard North Salvage, Studio 9, Praed Road, Trafford Park M17 1PQ
