My Summer Days

I wanted to share with you some of my favourite times during the summer.

You might have noticed that I’ve taken a back seat during August, I’ve slowed things right down here on the blog and on my social channels.

I personally find August is a great time to take a break, reassess and rejuvenate. I don’t just mean going on a summer holiday.

Taking the time to really be in your surroundings, away from routine can be done anywhere.

Virgo season is upon us now (I’m a Virgo!) and I’ve always felt that September is like my New Year. It’s probably why I loved school so much! I’ve very much an Autumn person and feel really at home during this season.

So before Autumn is fully upon us here’s my best bits from the summer.

Pottering around after the workmen have gone and rearranging some of my plants.

It’s incredibly therapeutic a bit of faffing you know!

  • Dolls head planters; similar here
  • E tealight holder (will be used as a planter) from Rooi
  • Plant spray here
  • Other planters B&Q, Ikea and vintage

Spending time with my girls is obviously one of the big joys of the summer. We’ve had lots of cosy days due to the odd summer weather. Our new favourite destination park has got to be Bramhall Park, close to Stockport. It’s got a playground, gorgeous gardens, a restored Tudor manor house and an excellent cafe!

You might’ve seen that I managed to get to Brussels too this summer! It was a child free two night trip to see U2. I thought it was a very chocolate box town (no pun intended) with so many beautiful buildings. I’m not sure we did enough for me to write a full post on it though?? Do let me know if that’s something you’d like to see? I probably do have enough photos!

(PS- that’s not me on the Segway!!)

One thing I’ve really appreciated this summer is all the work we had done on the house and garden in July. It’s such a good idea to try and schedule a lot of renovations at the same time. I wrote a post with more tips on surviving renovations here.

I’ve just been enjoying it, the hallway floor especially. It makes the entryway feel so much brighter. Read more about the flooring here.

What have you enjoyed most this Summer?

  5. I completely agree. I’ve actually taken a month or so away from blogging completely and have just starting posting again today. I feel revitalised and so much more enthusiastic about writing. I read in Elle recently that September is the “thinking persons January” so maybe that’s why it feels like new year? x
