Joanie at the Vintage Beauty Parlour

The Vintage Beauty Parlour in Chorlton, Manchester is one of those places where you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Since even before Bethany opened her salon back in 2014 (I cant believe it was that long ago btw!) she has been treating the ladies of Manchester and beyond to an authentic taste of hair and beauty from the Golden Age.

I hadn’t visited for a while, feeling a need to move away from a vintage look. I found it rather high maintenance and my style was evolving again, especially after having my second daughter.

Having said that, it’s a look I’ve always loved, and will always love. It know suits me, I’ve been told I have one of those faces that’d be perfect in a period drama (I think that’s a compliment?!) and its a classic and timeless look, depending on what you wear it with.

When I heard Joanie Clothing were holding an event at the Bethanys place, I jumped at the chance to attend.

Joanie are a Manchester based clothing brand with a strong vintage look, designed for the modern girl. So basically, pretty much right up my street. As you’ve seen in my recent post about creating a capsule wardrobe, I’m less about buying all the pretty dresses (which they do sell, help!) and more about looking for pieces that will work with what I already have, and that have multiple ways to wear them.

For the event I teamed up some repro vintage style jeans with an M&S blouse I bought recently and my trusty Superga red trainers. The blouse I’d had my eye on for about a month, and figured I could wear it so many different ways.

There was a handful of bloggers and influencers at the event. We were treated to hair and makeup by Bethany and her team. HELLO dream hairstyle!

It was such a fun and relaxing afternoon. After a solid week of workmen at the house I needed to switch off. We had chance to browse the summer collections from Joanie, so many pretty things! Joanie are great at cute dresses and cool tee’s.
