An outfit post for you today, featuring this khaki maxi skirt which I’ve barely been out of in the warm weather we’ve been having.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m slowly working my way through The Curated Closet. A brilliant book about creating a wardrobe that works for you. How to have variety, but not have so much choice you get overwhelmed every morning.
The book takes you through steps to hone your style and exercises to enable you to achieve a wardrobe that works. A wardrobe where you wear 80% of the items all the time, not 20% (like what I’ve been doing).
After taking part in a capsule wardrobe challenge a few months ago it really helped me see the gaps in my wardrobe.
One of those gaps is skirts, wearable every day skirts. I know a maxi style suits me, because I’m tall I can wear them without tripping (!!) or looking out of proportion.
I found this khaki maxi skirt in M&S and fell in love. It’s the perfect length on me and that kind of fabric that is low maintenance. It also comes in Black and Pink.
This maxi skirt also has an elasticated waist (faux drawstring) so is incredibly comfortable. Really perfect for those days when you need a little extra stretch around the middle.
I’ve teamed it with my old Karen Millen jacket, black Superga’s, a Stranger Things inspired t-shirt a grey cashmere scarf and my new mini bag (also seen in this post)
It feels so great to be out of jeans for a change, but still be low maintenance. Khaki is such a wearable colour and goes with just about anything.
I popped my hair up in Heidi braids, its at an awkward length at the moment (read; I need a haircut). I’ve been practising these at home and I’ve got it down now to 5 mins now rather than the half hour it was taking me at first. Its a great way to style hair that needs a wash, it stays better when hair isn’t perfectly clean anyway. I can see me wearing these braids a lot this summer.
The street art I’m making the most of here is on Hare Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. I don’t know who the artist is so please if you do- let me know and I can credit them.
I think it kinda goes with my outfit!
Thanks to my good friend Kate Kelly for taking these shots.

I’m so jealous!! I’d love to get away with these long skirts, but i’m such a midget and I trip all over myself. Not a good look. You on the other hand are looking hot to trot. Love the braids too!!

That skirt really suits you and I love the colour. I would love to wear more maxi skirts but I’m so short so it’s really hard to find ones that fit. Great find here though!

I love the idea of honing in on what you wear, I think I’m guilty of rarely wearing most of my wardrobe 🙂 your outfit is lovely too!
