Finally I can show you the shutters!
The fitting happened a couple of weeks ago now and it was so quick it only took a couple of hours. It probably took the guy longer to unpacked the shutters than it did to actually install them!
As you can see we went for white to match with the window frames. Despite covering the windows, you can see there’s loads of light coming through. I mentioned before that the room is North facing so getting light in here has been a struggle in the past.
The Santa Fe shutters come in a variety of colours and also in wood finishes. SantaFe offer solid basswood shutters and HS PVC Polyvinyl (Faux Wood). All with different lead times, some as little as two weeks. Contact them for a quote designed just for you and your needs.
Its a one man installation and it was the same chap that did the survey. I’m sure most of you are similar to me and aren’t keen on having tradespeople in the house, but this guy was no bother. Not even wanting a cup of tea!
The shutters really are the perfect solution to our privacy needs at the front of the house. Being able to control the light and knowing that passers by cant see straight in makes me just that little bit happier with this room.
The shutters feel clean and modern, but also compliment our eclectic dining room.
As you can see, even when they are closed, a good amount of light still comes through the top sections of the original stained glass. During the day we have them half open as that way we get a lot of light, but ample privacy too.
Each shutter opens out, this is not something we’d need to do very often to be honest. But it is good to know they for those moments when I need to do a deep clean in there.
I think the shutters have really finished off the room. I’ll be posting about them again in the Winter months to show you how the darker months change (or not) how we use the shutters.

They really look great – so unobtrusive but very subtle and stylish as well! I really like them and I love how you can still see the stained glass which would be covered up with a normal curtain 🙂 xx

The shutters look excellent – and a perfect solution as you’re close to the road. The stained glass windows look really great with them – and still let in plenty of light. I bet you use the room alot more from now on.

I’ve just had something very similar fitted last week to a dark living room with a bay and I’m so pleased with the difference they make. Like you we also have a herd of wooden antelope 🙂

I think they look amazing! I’m seriously considering shutters for the bay window in the living room. The sun shines right in for most of the day but I don’t like blocking it out with curtains. Shutters seem like a really lovely alternative.
