ageing well with supplements

New Habits ~ New Supplements

Picture this;

You’ve committed to a new health regime and its starting to pay off. You are looking and feeling better than you have for a while. What’s your secret? (Friends and family are asking!)

Life changes are down to willpower and habit. The willpower to make the changes and stick to them, and the commitment to forming a new habit. A habit for life, or at least as long as it works for you.

Many of us look for ways to be healthier and one of the simplest ways is to take a supplement. Adding supplements to your daily routine is an easy way to top up on the vitamins and minerals you might be missing out on due to a busy lifestyle or through illness, stress, pregnancy… There are so many reasons. It’s also an easier habit to adopt than an new diet or exercise regime (sshhh… don’t tell anyone!)

So when Seven Seas asked me to take part in a trial of Cod Liver Oil capsules, and after reading about the many benefits, it was a no brainer for me to try it. They’ve had a new”Simply Timeless” look, ready for 2017 – although it’s the same great formula that’s especially rich in Omega-3 and Vitamin D.

My first memory of Cod Liver Oil is a big bottle of it on our kitchen worktop and my parents took it sporadically. I remember trying it a few times as a child, one particular time I drunk a cup of tea straight afterwards and then I had fishy burps all day at school! (mental note: no hot drinks close to taking the capsule). Nowadays it does actually say on the container to consume a cold drink when taking the capsule.

I’m 36 now and I’m happy to get any help to slow down the ageing process, the list of benefits of taking Cod Liver Oil and their #TRUEAGE campaign seem perfect for this. I’m not hugely bothered by ageing but I just want to age well ya know? I sometimes feel like I’m still in my early twenties but often feel much older than I am – usually due to not getting enough sleep or not eating enough fresh fruit and veg. I’m a big believer in working from the inside out when it comes to anti-ageing. Things like drinking more water and getting more sleep are much more helpful than the latest anti-ageing cream.

A daily dose of Cod Liver Oil is an extra way to support your body and top up your natural resources as you get older. These capsules contain Vitamin D which supports bones and the rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids help maintain normal vision and brain function. As I said earlier a no brainer to try it right?

So I’m starting on the One-A-Day Simply Timeless Cod Liver Oil capsules this week and I’ll be writing about how I get on at a later date.

If you fancy giving these a try with me, you can pick them up from supermarkets and chemists for around £5-£8 depending on what pack size you go for.

  1. I think I need to have a go. Hitting my late 40s now and need something!!

  2. This bring back memories of being in my grans car before primary school while she tried to force me to take a capsule before going lining up! I go through phases of buying different capsules but always forget to take them

    1. Yeah I finf I have to take the at the same time every day otherwise I forget too!

  3. Hiya Susie. Yes I totally agree – enough sleep and lots of fruit and veg and water are the better than any beauty product. I’m too lazy to take any supplements but cod liver oil tablets do sound very good.

    1. My skin is so sensitive too so its hard to find cream that work

  4. Hi Susie!
Loved reading your post here in Berlin. It is such a coincidence as my best friend in Stockport and I were chatting over Whatsapp this morning about the benefit of supplements. Have have recently had problems with dry eyes and my friend recommended a course of Omega 7. So I just ordered a pack from Amazon. I am curious to see how they will work, also for the anti aging effects! I am 52 so any help in that direction is a boost. I also use Emma Hardie products which are a bit pricey but very luxurious and seem to work!!

We can compare notes …….. In a few weeks of trial !
    Good luck
    Greetings from Berlin

    1. Ah wow- that’s uncanny! Yes- lets see how we get on- will look those products up too x

  5. I’m really interested in your progress. I am not the best tablet taker, I forget, but if it works I might give it a go.

    1. Thanks lovely! Stay tuned

  6. I must say, I’m not sure if it’s age that is changing me or being a mum. I feel like my skin and energy levels have just changed drastically ever since my pregnancy and they’re just not the same anymore! It’s definitely triggered a change in routine and I take a multivitamin every day (which I never used to bother with) and try and moisturise more 🙂

    1. HAha! Yes to all the above!

  7. Intrigued to find out how you get on. I always forget to take vitamins but trying to take supplements of vitamin D in the colder, darker months xxx

  8. Good luck, I’ll be interested to hear your progress. I’ve never fancied the potential after taste of cod liver oil capsules, but the health benefits are supposed to be excellent!

  9. It can be a real minefield cant it!

  10. You’ve just reminded me to stock up on some more – used to take omega 6 and 3 capsules as they’re so good all round (brain, eyes, hair, nails etc). xx

    1. Aw yey! Thanks for stopping by lovely x
