Terrazzo has been on a slow boil in the interiors world for the past year or two, slowly slipping in where marble once was before.
I do love it when the interiors and fashion world blend together and this terrazzo thing is a great example.
Terrazzo is a marble and cement composite which was created in the 16th century as a way to reuse marble offcuts, waste not want not. Today it can be a mix of virtually any kind of material, to create a bespoke look.
To me to feels timeless, a bit Art Deco. Memories of swimming baths and shop floors from my childhood. It looks so tactile and feels much warmer than a traditional marble

It’s had revivals in the 1930s and the 1970s, so much like the way of these things coming around every 30-40 years, its in vogue again. I’ve spotted some ways to buy into this trend though without redoing your whole bathroom (unless you want to!)
I think the terrazzo feels just right for Spring too, it’s light, fresh and cheerful. It manages to be delicate and bold at the same time.
1- Vitra Dress this website is in New Zealand but I just had to include it here.
2- Gamete Multi Coloured Rug La Redoute coming up with the goods again
3- Stone Terrazzo Wallpaper Mural and easy way to make and impact
4- Button Up Blouse this print comes as a dress too!
5- Fold Print Shirt wear with jeans and a grey cardi
6- Confetti Print Dress long sleeved dresses are the future
7- Terrazzo Sky this is a fabric that comes in a few other colourways too
8- Killi Terrazzo Lamp these remind me of old department store floors
9- Terrazzo Colourful Geometric Cushion an easy and affordable way to add the terrazzo trend to your home
10- Ceramic Cups perfect for brightening up your morning
11- Terrazzo wallpaper- Ferm Living for kids! Obviously not just for kids (out later this year)
12- Marmoreal Tiles these are the same company from the first image, pretty nice eh?

It’s such a lovely material – I wasn’t sure when I saw it popping up here and there in the interior worlds at first but when I saw some of the work of Play Associates and Dzek, I was a convert! It’s very playful and I love the mix of textures and colours. I love the fashion elements as well – 4 and 5 are my favourites 🙂 Might need to do a bit of shopping now 😉 xx

I’m still not sure how I feel about this. I’m not won over by it in fashion I have to say. It’s a bit too crazy for me to wear. I like it in small doses in interiors so some accessories or maybe a feature wall. The lamps and the ferm living wallpaper are my favourites.
