Cranberry, apple, almond and tea: A Hot Punch recipe.
Today I’m joining in with the #UKHomeBlogHop organised by the fabulous Kimberley of Swoonworthy. So WELCOME if that is how you’ve found me, especially if you’ve arrived via TidyLife which is the blog before mine in the Hop.
This space is a lifestyle and interiors blog, which I hope is down to earth. We are doing up our home so there are lots of renovation posts but also fashion and travel, so please take a look around if you are new here.
The Blog Hop is a week of festive treats from over 20 UK based interiors bloggers, more details at the end of this post- or click the link through to Kimberleys blog.
If you’ve arrived here thinking you are going to see my Christmas decorations, then I have to disapoint you. We dont put ours up until closer to the time! So today I’m sharing with you this cocktail which includes all of my favorite Christmas botanicals.
This is a recipe for a warm (or hot) cocktail served in a teapot, perfect for those chilly Winter nights. It is incredilby moreish so please do take care, its almost too easy to drink!
As much as I love a Gin & Tonic, in Winter I like something more warming. This boozy brew ticks all my boxes with its festive flavours of almond, fruit and spices.
I’m serving this in my favorite Falcon enamelware teapot which is a suitable cheery pillar box red.
This recipe makes enough for two people, having two large mugs. So would also be fine for four to have one mug each. You could easily double or triple the measures and keep it in a big pan on the hob- perfect for a party or festive gathering.
Ingredients~
- 6 tea bags
- 400ml boiling water
- 200ml cloudy apple juice (or cider!!)
- 50ml Amaretto per drink- so here 200ml
- 200ml unsweetened cranberry juice
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ginger or approx a square inch of fresh, chopped ginger
- 4 cloves
- An large orange, sliced
Method~
Put the water and teabags into the teapot and brew the tea for about five minutes, use your favorite tea. Scoop out the teabags and do what ever you normally do with teabags. We tend to accumulate a pile of them in a dish, then put them in the food/compost bin.
Add the ginger and cloves and the brown sugar.
Ensuring the sugar has dissolved add the rest of the ingredients; apple juice, cranberry juice, Amaretto and half of the sliced orange. We’ll use the rest as garnish.
Pop on a tea cosy if you have one, if not wrap the teapot in a clean tea-towel. Allow the ingredients to infuse for around 15-20 minutes.
Serve in your favourite large mug (or Christmas mug!) with a slice of orange
Open fire optional 😉
I would love your input
