I’m so excited to finally share this with you today. We have colour in the bedroom!
As you probably know our bedroom makeover has been on the cards for a while.
We’ve done bits here and there. Added new things like a new blind, curtains and storage. But the actual painting the walls and ceiling has now just been finished by my brilliant other half.
We teamed up with Valspar again for this (we worked with Valspar previously here) and it was a great excuse to get that perfect blush pink I’d been after.
It turns out choosing a colour other than white is actually really hard! I must have had about 10 different shades of pink on the wall. I think the man at Valspar in our local B&Q knows me now! And the thing is I’m not a Pink person.
The colour I was looking for was more of a Blush or a Dusky Pink. If you’ve seen the most recent House of Cards series there is a Dusky pink on some of the walls in The White House… Well that’s the sort of pink I was after.
We used the Valspar Premium Emulsion in Matt, and the colour is called Fairys Tutu. The shade looks just as we wanted. It creates a restful bedroom. It almost envelops you inside it… I might be going too far to say its like being in the womb, but you get the idea.
The Premium Emulsion has been really highly rated by Mumsnet with 94% of reviewers saying they’d suggest it to their friends and 96% saying they would use it again. We have to say we really agree with this.
I’ve actually been back again to my local B&Q to pick up some colour chips for the dining room- the poor man on the Valspar counter must be sick of my face!!
My other half painted the room over the Easter weekend when I had that awful virus, so I was no help at all. He did a great job and loved the paint. The pigment was high so the coverage was really impressive. A little goes a long way and we probably could’ve got away with just one coat, but we he did a second one and it looks SO GOOD!
The paint went on smoothly, and he (the Mr) kept going on about the “amazing lines” it had created at the edges, where the wall meets the skirting board or ceiling, when used in combination with Frog Tape.
As you can see we still need to sort our floor out (the next job). But look at those clean, sharp lines!!
This room now feels very grown up, but also a really restful and tranquil sanctuary. We updated our headboard too which really goes well with the curtains from Habitat, like they were made for each other!
The Headboard is from Tesco!! And so reasonable for £75 for a king size.
Our bedding is from H&M but from a while ago. Its muted leopard print pattern really works with the other elements of the room.
We are so pleased with how our bedroom looks now. It feels so luxurious!
If you’d like to see our bedroom before we got to this stage then take a look here.
What do you think? Would you go for a colour like this?
I would love your input
