Home Comforts and a Leesa mattress

Hello readers!

We’ve recently been struck down by the worst cold (ever!) and it despite the moments of cabin fever between the other moments of actual fever, and wiping snotty noses, it got me thinking about home comforts.

For example, we’d been off our food other than comfort food like Marmite on hot buttered (actually Vitalite) toast.

Tonight, as we are all starting to get our appetite back,  I made corned beef hash which I haven’t made for years. It tasted so comforting and homely and warm, just what you need after being poorly.

This happened to coincide with Leesa mattresses getting in touch to see if we fancied trying them out. I leapt at the chance to try one. We decided that it would actually be great for eldest’s bed as we already have a foam based mattress for ours.

She always says how cosy our bed is, so I thought she would love the Leesa mattress for her own bed. Readers: she couldn’t wait to get into it and go to sleep! Yes she had been rather ill, and is still not 100%, but having a cloud like bed with fresh bed linen is the ultimate in home comforts don’t you think??

So my top three home comforts are;

  • Mug of Tea with Marmite on toast
  • A comfy bed
  • Corned beef hash ( or similar one pot hearty meal)

The Leesa is incredibly easy to order and try out. The ordering process on their website took literally 5 minutes, probably one of the easiest and fastest checkout experiences I’ve ever come across.

The mattress is manufactured within 3-5 working days, plus 1-2 working days for shipping, which is free … And get this, if you don’t like it they will come and collect it and refund you and take the mattress to charity! The mattresses are manufactured in Derbyshire and the UK office is in Manchester, right opposite our old city centre apartment.

Leesa also have a scheme where for every ten mattresses sold they’ll donate one to charity, and they’ve just made a donation of 62 mattresses to the Mustard Tree in Manchester (a homeless charity). I’m seriously impressed by this company.

The mattress arrived at my neighbour’s house (we were out) in a comparatively small box. The trick is, as it’s foam based not coil, that it can be rolled up. This makes it much easier to transport, and get up your staircase. I made a little hyperlapse video so you can get a feel of how big the box is and the whole unboxing process.

Now, I wonder if I’ll ever be able to get eldest out of bed again…

  1. I’ve heard of this company too and thought they sounded really good. It’s just the fear of buying a mattress without lying on it first – I can’t overcome it! Even though they say they’ll collect it.
Has your eldest found it comfy so far?

    1. Ah she loves it Carolyn!! Her previous mattress wasn’t uncomfortable by any means, but this one feels more luxurious. I had a couple of naps on it over Easter whist my other half was painting our bedroom so can vouch its very comfy. I know what you mean about feeling that way-let me know if you decide to go for it xx

  2. Clever choice having it for your daughter, you will never get her out of bed !

We have the Leesa mattress since last November and I can’t sing its praises highly enough ! I LOVE ! LOVE! LOVE it. Its retaining its shape, there are no “dips” despite hubby and I having gained weight over the last few years ! Also really important to me, being a lady of a certain age, I no longer get night sweats and sleep so well on it.

They are an amazing company with a great ethos.

  3. So good to keep hearing good reviews about these mattresses. I’m very particular (annoying) about my sleep habits and a good mattress is an absolute must. Great that any returned mattresses get sent to charity too!x

  4. The more I see this mattress, the more I like it. Having a quality mattress is just so important. And the 100 day trial really does help take the risk away when buying. I hope your eldest enjoys it!
