How to {rock} wear a Headscarf

I’ve been meaning to show you how I wear my headscarf.

Since June actually, when I wore a vintage headscarf for Blogtacular and got asked a lot about it. That’s seven months ago! Sorry about the wait. My excuse is that I didn’t have the means to show you in the way I wanted to before now, as I was using my iPhone for all my photography.how to wear a vintage headscarf with video tutorial

I got a DSLR for Christmas and I’m still in the midst of learning how to use it and all its clever functions, one of which is video!

Cringe!! It’s not something that comes naturally to me, but I can’t keep procrastinating over it. Video is a great way of communicating and I’d really like to grow my skillset this year, stop shying away from stuff and get with the programme!

The thing is I go through phases of wearing a headscarf. I’ve not worn one for a while but I can see that changing as I’ve just had a haircut and the stylist took too much off. Wont be going there again!

Wearing a headscarf can cover a variety of hair woes; from my too short layers to a botched dye job. Or even if you are just waiting for your roots to get done, or you are growing out a pixie cut or a fringe. Or you just have the most beautiful scarf that just needs to be worn rather than just hanging in your wardrobe.

So this video is illustrating my “Go To” headscarf look. It a vintage style, a bit Rosie Riveter and it covers all the head leaving a bit at the front free to style your fringe (bangs) or quiff.

To recreate this look you will need;

  • a Square headscarf this one in the video is 85cm square
  • grips/bobby pins

  1. I’ve always wondered how to tie those. They really suit you! I like that you used such a big scarf as when I used a little red paisley one as a 50’s rockabilly headband it just looked too gangster on me but this looks so classy! I love that it now says ‘sunshine’ around the back of your head ^_^

    1. Aw thanks Chrissie! Have a lovely weekend x

    It looks great! It’s good to see how it’s done. I have tried to ‘rock’ a headscarf before and never quite managed it, I may have another go when it get’s a bit warmer. Thanks for the tips! x
