Today I want to tell you all about a fantastically inspirational interiors book.
I’ve been meaning to write this post for months and I promised myself I’d get it out to you before Christmas, it would make an excellent Christmas gift for anyone who is into design, interiors, vintage and renovating/decorating their home in a personal way.
The book is New Bohemians by Jungalow founder and blogger Justina Blakeney.
The front cover says “open me!” right?
The textures and the colour in this image and throughout the book just make me swoon.
For me, Justina and the houses she includes in the book strike the perfect balance of vintage finds and regular shop bought stuff.
There really is something of interest on every single page- I kid you not. There is thrifty DIYs to get stuck into. Like this brilliant driftwood sconce.
There is a plant guide towards the end of the book, a “plant-o-pedia” which for me is very interesting.
Plants are a huge part of how Justina and co decorate a room and they are featured in every home within the book. This is something I’ve yet to delve into with my own home, I don’t have a great history of looking after plants so this is something I’d really like to work on.
Justina shows you how to style your collections in ways that don’t look cluttered, they look stylish and considered.
There’s a real eclectic feel through this books and new ways of using textiles is one of the other big things I took away from it. The New Bohemians repurpose things a lot too, for example, turning them upside down or spray painting items. Its a fair point to make that the homes featured in the book have a head start in the looks race {large and airy} so the owners are just adding their own styles. It’d be great to see perhaps a couple of UK properties that have the bohemian look purely to see the style on a smaller scale.
The most dreamy fireplace above, would you agree?
If you fancy treating yourself to this book or someone else then you can buy it from Amazon here or if you prefer to shop elsewhere Anthropologie also sell it here.
I would love your input
