So I’d like to introduce you to a new member of our household… A new Rug in our Living Room.
Previously to this we had an Ikea one which I really liked, but lets just say it had been well used and was past its best. Our living room is where most time is spent during the day and I want it to have a relaxing and warm vibe.
I think we’ve achieved this by teaming our old Chesterfield sofa with the gorgeous mid century style coffee table (coffee table details) and this rug from Modern Rugs.

We have bare floorboards in the living room so a rug is essential I think. A rug can bring warmth to a room, not to mention colour, a focal point, pattern, texture and some sound proofing. This rug ticks all those boxes and we love it. We chose a traditional Indian Kilim rug, which also happens to be reversible (we’ve not tried this yet).
It is handmade in India, with an emphasis on the fact it isn’t made using child labour.
I’ve been digesting the New Bohemians book by Justina of The Jungalow blog and I just love how she incorporates rugs into her home and the other homes featured in the book. I’ve found the book really inspiring and I like to think that this bohemian rug gives a eclectic look to my living room, but also brings everything together in the room too. This type of bohemian rug definitely has a classic or timeless quality about it too. I think it could work in so many different types of rooms and different style of décor.
It’s really given the living room a more rounded look I think. It feels much cosier in here now… I’ve even used some massive floor cushions occasionally when playing on the floor with the girls which have added to the bohemian vibe.
What do you think?
Would you choose a rug like this?
I would love your input
