Style Me Vintage Home- A Book Review

I’ve known about Style Me Vintage Home for a while and have waited patiently for it to be published.

It was worth the wait.

style me vintage by keeley harris

The author, Keeley Harris, really knows her stuff when it comes to vintage homewares and furniture. She’s been immersed in the vintage and antique world since being a child and clearly her love for old things runs in the blood, as she learnt about being an antiques dealer from her father.

Keeley is one of the top vintage professionals in the UK and has a multitude of outlets for her talents. She is also the mastermind behind the Discover Vintage Fairs, The Vintage Home Show and the extravaganza that is Festival of Vintage York.

Keeley also writes a blog- a kind of behind the scenes look at her life as a vintage expert, and she also helps fledgling vintage businesses find their feet through learning at the Vintage Academy.

So what is the book like..?

It’s really well written, in a format that can be cherry picked from, even if you just had ten minutes with this book you’d be learning something.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

The book is broken down into decades and then within each section is styling, products and furniture from that period. The great thing is that the images in the book have come from people’s actual homes. The love and care that these enthusiasts have shown just pours out of the page- like some kind of wonderful vintage daydream.

What shapes to look for, brands and materials. The photography of the interiors is so good too, I know how difficult it can be to get the light right indoors.

I think I’m like the majority of vintage lovers and I like to mix up my furniture with pieces from the past and present… This book positively encourages that eclecticism rather than being purist about sticking to one decade.

In Keeley’s words- Buy what you love, if you hesitate it may not be there when you go back for it…

The quickest way to get your hands on this book is to buy it from Amazon Keeley is doing a book signing tour too if you fancy a signed copy.
